Tsu FAQ

What is tsū?

Free to join and free to use, tsū (pronounced “Sue”) is a social networking site which pays its members for content, distributing up to 90% of its income to users.

How is tsū different?

1. Access – everyone that joins tsū is eligible for a share of its profits. Simply signing up to tsū and using it in the same way as any other networking site will be sufficient to generate income.
2. Ownership – we believe that, as the value of any site lies in the content belonging to its users, the profits and rewards gained from this content should also belong to tsū members. This is why we distribute the vast majority of any revenue we raise to our valued users.
3. Empowerment – every tsū member has the capability to generate profits (royalties) as a result of their normal social networking activities. Tsū provides innovative and sustainable ways of ensuring users are compensated for the valuable content they produce.

How does tsū work?

In the same way as many other sites across the net, tsū generates income from advertising, partnerships and sponsorship. As this revenue is generated, tsū keeps 10% to cover the costs of running the site and then gives half of the remainder to the user that created the content. The remaining half (so 45% of total profits) is divided up amongst the user’s tsū network (their Family Tree)using the tsū algorithm.

How do I join Tsū?

So that accurate tracking of users can be undertaken to ensure correct income distribution, a tsū account can only be obtained by acting on an exclusive invitation received from an existing user.

The Content I Share Has Value?

Everything you would normally post on a social networking site, including updates, photos or videos has the capacity to generate revenue. Here at tsū, 50% of your income will be from the royalties you earn from uploading content.

My Network Has Value?

Yes! In addition to earning money for your own content, a third of every user’s earnings is passed upwards to the person that invited them to join. The larger your network, the greater the amount of money you can expect to receive. At tsū generations of users (imagine a network of users that you invited, each of which subsequently invites users of their own, creating a multi-level hierarchy) which all stem from your account are called your Family Tree. The level of payment made to each member of the Family Tree is determined by the tsū algorithm, further explanation for which is given in the “What is the tsū algorithm?” FAQ.

What is the tsū algorithm?

This is the mathematical formula by which 90% of the revenue generated by tsū is distributed back to its users. Once 10% of the profit made is top-sliced from the total to pay for maintenance of the site, the rest is distributed through Family Trees using the “rule of infinite thirds”.
For example: User A invite User B to join, who in turn invites User C. User C invites User D to join.
(a) User D generates £100 through their content. £10 of this is top-sliced to pay for the site’s maintenance and management, leaving £90 for distribution through User D’s Family Tree.
(b) User D keeps 50% of the £90, (£45) as generator of the profitable content. The remaining £45 is then divided up as follows:
(c) User C (the person who invited User D to join) will receive exactly one third (33.33% of the £90, (£27).
(d) User B (the person who invited User C to join) will receive a third of a third (ie 33.33% of £27 or 11.11% of £90) which equates to about £8.10.
(e) User A (the person who invited User B to join) will then receive a third of a third of a third (that is 1/27th) of the £90 which will be approximately £2.70.
The use of the “rule of thirds” allows profit to be split an almost infinite number of times, allowing the initial (founder) members of tsū to realise significant income as time goes by and their Family Tree continues to grow.

CREATE AND PUBLISH CONTENT

How do I complete my profile info?

To begin customising your account, filling in your profile and tailoring settings, account options, privacy and notifications to your own requirements, simply click on your profile picture (top right) and choose “Settings”. Once you have clicked on the “Settings” tab, you will be able to alter all the above variables through the icons on the “Settings” screen. In addition you will also be able to start sending out invitations and finding friends.

How do I publish content?

When you have a status update to make, or a picture to share, click on the “Create” icon (find it in the top half of your screen), then upload the relevant text or images. If you want to share a video, paste the embedded URL into the content creation space.
Once you are happy with your content, click on “Post” to upload it onto your page. Remember that if you wish to share the content with any of your other social networks, click on their icons as well to enable simultaneous uploading.

How do I share a web link?

What Content is Inappropriate?

Common sense is normally the best guide to what material should not be published. Broadly speaking inappropriate content is considered to be any material which is likely to offend including (but not limited to) pornography, sexually explicit material, material intended to harass, threaten or bully others, hateful material or anything which is illegal, infringing or discriminatory.
It is also not appropriate to imitate someone else, spam, make aggressive, overt efforts to generate income or try and “play the system”. Examples of spamming may include begging for follows or over-zealous hashtagging.
We want tsū to be a safe, pleasant place for all our users and will act promptly to take down offensive material as well as ban users that post unsuitable content.

Who can see my content and how do I manage content visibility?

Currently there are two options for managing content: “Friends Only” and “Public”. The “Public” option allows everybody to see your posts, whereas “Friends Only” means that Followers can’t see what you’ve posted. You can set your preference by selecting you preferred mode using the facility which is located left of the “Post” icon. Remember you can customise your account’s privacy in other ways using the “Settings” screen.
At the current time tsū does not operate “Private” or “Restricted” options to limit visibility.

What are Hashtags and how do I use them?

A hashtag (#) is a great way of ensuring that your comment or post on a particular subject gains prominence whenever that subject is searched for here at tsū. When you prefix (start) a word or phrase with a hashtag, the subsequent text is immediately entered into a searchable database. It is often used when you have content to share about a particular event or topic.
On tsū you can find the most popular (best trending) hashtags in the top right of the “Feed” feature. If you want to comment but can’t find your chosen topic there, use the “Search” function which is located on the top left side of the navigation bar.

How do I delete content?

On a Computer
For computer users, deleting content is simply a case of clicking on the “More” icon located at the bottom of any post and then find the “Remove” icon to delete the post permanently.
On Mobile Apps
At the bottom right of the post you wish to delete there will be three dots. Click on these to generate a menu which includes a “Delete Post” option. Click on “Delete Post” and the relevant content will be deleted from your page.
Remember that you can only delete content from you own page, not from other users, unless the content has been posted directly to your page.

How do I increase my content’s visibility?

The key to enhancing the popularity and visibility of your content is to ensure that you have something meaningful to contribute! High-quality, engaging content which adds value to the tsū community is the best way of reaching a wider audience. If people like what they see they will return frequently to look for fresh updates, so creation of irresistible content is crucial.
In addition, the thoughtful use of hashtags can help your comments and input to be visible to other users that are looking for content on a particular topic.
Remember to respond to others and be a generous Follower or Friend.

How do I Search for Content?

If you’re looking for information about a particular topic or user, the “Search” facility, located in the top left of the navigation screen and identified by a magnifying glass icon, is the answer. Users can search by hashtags, user first or last name or profile name.
Note that when using a computer the “Search” facility auto populates as you type in the relevant search terms, whilst users searching through a mobile app will need to type and click “Enter” before searching commences.

SOCIALISE AND GROW YOUR NETWORK

How do I grow my network?

At tsū the secret of a successful network is to attract genuine Friends and Followers through the high calibre of your content. Your content should be enough to encourage people to ask to be your Friend or Follower, because they like who you are and what you are about. Tsū is a platform for sharing meaningful posts with others, who will then want to Follow you in order to find out more.
Also remember that “the best way to gain a friend is to be a friend” and ensure that you contribute honestly and helpfully to the posts and content which others on tsū have shared.
We understand that growing a large network is of paramount importance to many users, but also know that the best way to do this is to be a genuine, worthy contributor rather than begging people to befriend or Follow you (we will ban users that overtly beg for Followers or support).

What is the difference between Friends and Followers?

Friends
Once you have given someone Friend status, they will be automatically sent all your updates and posts and you will receive theirs. In addition, they will have unrestricted access to content in both the “Friends Only” and “Public” posts. Remember that we don’t currently have “Private” or “Restricted” choices for who sees what, so ensure that you only “Friend” people you know or that you feel able to trust
Followers
If you Follow a user, you can see their “Public” posts. You do not have to Follow everybody that Follows you. Conversely people that you Follow do not have to Follow you unless they wish to do so.

How do I control who sees my posts?

By default all posts are “Public” (visible to all) unless you specify the “Friends Only” option, available by clicking on the relevant choice from the menu located to the left of the “Post” icon. After you have posted, if you need to you can retrospectively change the setting from “Public” to “Friends Only” or vice versa.
“Public” content is available to both Friends and Followers
“Friends Only” content, as the name suggests, can only be viewed by users you have selected to be Friends.
To hide personal details, use the options available through the “Settings” page. You may also wish to look at our section on Privacy Settings.

How do I add another member as my Friend?

If you want to Friend another tsū user, the first step is to send them a “Friend” request. This is done by locating their Profile Page and clicking on the “Add Friend” icon which is to the right of their profile picture. This will generate a friend request, to which your chosen user needs to respond in order to confirm their Friend status. If they wish to be added to your page as a Friend, you will see that the “Friend” box next to their picture has been checked. Once a “Friend” request is approved, your new Friend will be able to see all your posts and you will be able to see all theirs.

How do I remove a Friend?

Go to their Profile Page and click on the “Friend” icon which is to the right of their Profile picture. This will remove them from your list of Friends. You should see the check mark adjacent to the “Friend” icon is no longer there.

I don’t want others to add me as their Friend

To remove the “Add Friend” icon, simply go to “Settings” and uncheck the “Receive friend request” option in the Privacy menu.

How do I send private messages to other users?

Chose “Messages” from the menu on the top left of the main page of your Feed, then send your chosen user a message and/or picture.

What is the Family Tree and how does it work?

On tsū, the Family Tree is composed of users that you have recruited to the site, as well as those users which your recruited users have, in their turn, recruited. In addition to the royalties earned from your own content, tsū users also acquire a proportion of their income from the profits and activities of the members of their Family Tree. Each tsū Family Tree consists of:
Friends (who you may or may not have invited to tsū)
Children (members that you directly invited to the site using your short code)
New Children (the very newest additions to the tsū community who have joined via your short code).
Network (everybody who has joined using either your short code or that of one of your tsū children)
Followers (other users that Follow you on tsū. They may not have used your short code to join.)
Please see What is the tsū algorithm? for further information.

What is a Short Code?

This is simply the URL of your Profile Page. The Short Code will take the following form: tsc.co/yourUsername. It can be used to invite people to join tsū and is also the basis on which your network is tracked and payments calculated

What happens if I invite someone to tsū using my short code?

Everyone that signs up to tsū using your short code will be able to follow your posts, as they are automatically updated to the new user’s news Feed. Subsequent to using your short code, the new member becomes part of your network and begins to generate revenue on your behalf as well as for their own benefit. Invitations which incorporate your unique short code can be communicated via email or SMS from the tsū site and the app.
